On the first evening, Neil likes for everyone to introduce themselves and tell an interesting thing about them.
Dabney Toler, alias Duke, spoke of his first encounter with FCBA. He had recently had a severe heart attack which left him feeling like he was dying. He battled depression. Then he had an opportunity to be support while his brother David rode on the FCBA trip. He felt he was in the right place at the right time. He felt needed by the bicyclists.
It is a situation where the SAG support and the cyclists need each other; they are intertwined. The mission is addictive. It takes your mind off the negative things in life and makes you put on a positive attitude. He has lots of fond memories from his previous trips and is looking forward to this one.
