The Blue Ridge kickoff
September 14, 2026
By Cindy Hepp
Last night we attended the kickoff pasta dinner before our week of volunteering with Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders here in Black Mountain, NC. We are one of two teams each working on a brand new home.
Today half the team worked outside putting up siding and caulking. The other half worked on mudding drywall from ceilings down in all the rooms and hallway.
Jacob was our crew chief. He did an excellent job in teaching and demonstrating so we all felt comfortable doing our part in the project. We are pleased with how far we progressed. Our homeowners are a couple who are raising their grandson, and their home was badly damaged during Hurricane Helene.
