South Dakota doesn’t necessarily pop up on your top travel websites, but for us it means that we have reached the halfway point of our trip, and that we are burning West every single day for the rest of the trip.

This morning started out with a fine breakfast of tasty egg dishes and muffins that the church left for us. Then we tackled the fog bank outside for the first two hours or so, it was cold and damp to me, only 62 degrees this morning and no sunshine until later in the day. But when the sun came through, it warmed up a bit and we picked up the pace.

Not exactly sure when we crossed into South Dakota, but we did. There was no sign on the road per se, but as the sign in this early city shows, folks are South Dakota proud.

So we reached the church, Jeff and I spun around to the commercial district and grabbed a burger and fries, and then swung back over to the church. Then Neil took us all over the National Guard Armory where we grabbed a quick HOT shower. That would be in contrast to yesterday’s freezing COLD shower!

Our gap between first rider in and last rider in, was much better today than usual with only an hour and 20 minutes difference. Maybe we are all getting faster!

So far South Dakota seems like a great place for us to spend the next 10 days.
