With a full week plus under their belts, the 2026 cross country team finally had a rest day. As a past rider serving as a support driver, I feel every day as a rest day.
This morning we are in Spokane Valley next to Spokane, Washington, where I live. My day started with a trip to a fellow Spokane Bicycle Club member’s home to get a new wheel for a rider whose wheel was bad. It was a real treat to find her a wheel at all, but this one came with real service with a smile by Dan Powell of Spokane.
We made it back to church in time for the morning service. It is always a joy to celebrate God’s word with the community hosting ours along the way. I was given a cash donation for the team while talking with some parishioners after the service.
The afternoon was filled with a bike trip to REI and the Spokane falls by some, bicycle cleaning and maintenance by others, exploring on foot, and or just relaxing by a few.
This evening 8 people joined me for a delicious dinner at my favorite Spokane Valley hamburger spot, Killer Burger. I rarely drive to it, but loved sharing it with my fellow “Fullerites”. Nothing beats their peanut butter, pickle, bacon burger. I was so happy to be there, especially with special people.
Later we had our weekly meeting. I will go back home on Tuesday after a build day in Kellogg. We have a new support driver on the team to relieve me. It has been a real pleasure to serve my friends on their adventure, to serve the Fuller Center partners near my new Washington residence, and to share the story of The Fuller Center for Housing.
