I joined the ride starting the second week of the Tour de Florida. Back home everyone was saying, “It’s flat. You have nothing to worry about.”

That statement is far from the truth. The headwinds stayed with us all day slowing me and my riding partner down. At one point today (yesterday was a 90 mile day), I began questioning why am I doing this. I always have to have answers in advance.

This ride is the answer. It is connecting, praying, listening to riders and support people tell their stories. It is about endurance and patience with myself.

I don’t know what the rest of the week will bring, but I am glad I have chosen to be part of this adventure.
