Today’s ride was 80 miles ( 82 for me since I missed a turn and Eldon chased me down).
We started the ride a half hour earlier (7:30am) than usual to try to avoid traffic on our 9.8 mile detour back to the Trace. We encountered a couple steep hills and several dogs. However, the roads were pretty and a nice diversion from Trace.
The Sags, Jeff and Neil were happy to see Eldon and I finally arrive to the first rest stop, luckily we only went a couple miles of course.
This is day 4 of Natchez Trace Ride with
Day 1: 37.3 miles
Day 2: 55.2
Day 3: 63.3
Day 4: 80 miles…
Each day the weather has been great with Day 4, the most beautiful. The headwinds were quite strong, tho, making the ride more challenging.
Neil and Bruce Bunce were sweeps and they did a good job of sweeping Jeff and I in.
Many of the riders stopped for ice cream at Rexal Drugstore in downtown Houston….we missed out on that. Finally arrived at Parkway Baptist Church 200 5th Ave. Houston, MS
Hallelujah!
The members of this church are amazing, providing us with snacks upon arrival and an unbelievable dinner of various homemade dishes from the loving church family. We enjoyed, showers, dinner, meeting Pastor Randy and many others. Todd, the youth and associate pastor touched our hearts with his beautiful singing and worship music. We had a restful night in our private rooms, ready for a work day in the morning.
