Today was the first cycling day of the BR26! The morning certainly had a different rhythm.
The team did an excellent job getting their stuff to the trailer and cleaning Lookout Lodge. The starting point for the ride was about an hour down the mountain.
We caravanned to Parkway Lodge, where we were welcomed with open arms by our new friend Sam. He graciously opened the lobby for riders to use the facilities and offered us bottled water. After a quick photo at the Blue Ridge Parkway sign the riders were on their way. The fog, incredible vistas, and fresh mountain air created a beautiful backdrop for this 30 mile day.
We arrived in Blowing Rock to the beautiful Rumple Memorial Church. The local pool showers were opened for us and we enjoyed a great meal of local pizza. Miraculously, the rain held off until all the riders were in.
