Of the 77 total miles, the team battled through 42 miles of mud and sand while navigating the Wabash Trace Nature trail. Recent heavy rains had turned this crushed limestone trail in western Iowa into a veritable swamp.

Riders had to make choices throughout the day such as whether to go through, under, or around downed trees. Riding the trail felt “like having two flat tires while riding the brakes”. 

But on a positive note: it didn’t rain! And we were very pleased to have Mo return to continue the ride! We missed you and your sense of humor, friend.

We also were super pumped after a hard ride to have a delicious meal of pulled pork sandwiches and actual ice cream sundaes (with cherries!) provided by our host, the Kountx Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska.
