The People Who Make Things Possible

By Fred Smoak

I enjoy riding my bike – most of the time. Today was a day (104 miles through the desert with 3,600 feet of climbing) that I was VERY glad to see the end of the ride. Still, it was what I signed up to did, and the experience of being on the ride continues to be one of the high points of my year.

But none of this would be possible without the efforts of the support people who drive the vehicles we depend upon to get our luggage from place to place, and set up the rest stops we use along the way to refuel and generally  make the entire ride possible.

As I said, I enjoy riding my bike. I can/t believe anyone enjoys sitting in the desert sun for hours just so I can have cold water and snacks. But the support people re always there, always cheerful, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure everything is running smoothly.

So often it’s the people who don’t get the credit who keep the wheels turning.
