Breezing through Iowa
July 5, 2024

By Paul Richards

After a nice evening celebrating the 4th of July in Leon, Iowa, with a parade (and some attended the rodeo), it was time to continue our trek east across southern Iowa.

This morning started off cooler with clear skies and a pretty strong breeze. Thankfully, that strong breeze was a tailwind! The ride today was much needed after a week of rain, headwinds, muddy roads, detours, and other challenges.

Our 88-mile ride today was a fast one which consisted of more rolling hills and beautiful, large fields of corn and soybeans. We rolled through several small towns and towards the end of our ride we entered Amish country sharing the roads with horses and buggies. We are definitely in the heartland of this beautiful country.
