Paul Schlimme: Lending a helping hand
June 3, 2021

By Paul Schlimme

Today we let our bicycles have an off day and we split our group of 20 into two work groups of 10 each. Half went to paint the exterior of the local Fuller Center so that they may remain open after an inspection issue. The other half did a major roof repair for an elderly couple in need. The couple was so grateful and excited to have us there.

It was nice to get public recognition by the press, ‘A mission trip on bikes’: Fuller Center coast-to-coast ride makes stop in Albany (Article at this link)

Once again we had a delicious dinner provided by tonight’s gracious Georgia hosts (Stacey at St Patrick’s Episcopal Church). So far we have been treated with great southern hospitality demonstrating Christ’s dictate to love one’s neighbor from the Baptists, Methodists and Episcopalians. Tomorrow night we will be hosted by the Presbyterians.

For those of us doing the first week then departing we are realizing we will be departing from some new friends who are on a great mission. Our prayers will be with them and hopefully others will join them on all or some of the upcoming 9 weeks to help them continue with their calling.
