2024 Tour de Florida has begun
January 13, 2024

By Steve Mann

All arrived safely to the starting church on Friday despite some flight delays and similar hiccups to make things interesting. After the shuttles arrived, pizza was available for dinner, then we had our trip orientation. Lights were out at 10:06 pm for the night, up at 6 am.

Saturday’s first segment took us 46.4 miles from Lake Monroe (near Orlando) to Titusville on the coast. About 90 percent was on a very nice trail. The weather was partly cloudy, about 65 degrees, no rain, and a bonus tailwind most of the way. Perfect biking weather.
An incredible dinner of different pasta dishes and meatballs was very generously made and provided to us by the Park Avenue Baptist Church. Park Avenue Baptist Church also provided us with showers and a place to stay for the afternoon and night.
Lights out at 10 pm tonight. We’ve got 425 miles and 8 riding days to go. Tomorrow will be our shortest day at 30 miles to Cocoa Bea
