Today was day 7 of riding. We have ridden a total of 400+ miles so far and it has been both amazing and very difficult. This is my first time on a big bike trip and I am definitely not very experienced. We have been going pretty hard basically from day one and it has been quite a struggle to keep up with both physically and mentally. Amazingly yesterday and today were both sub-50 mile days. It’s a wonder how far I have come in such a short amount of time. When I came on this trip the longest bike ride I had been on was 50 miles, after which I was usually pretty exhausted. After doing a couple 80+ mile days, 50 miles feels like a cake-walk.
Today was a wonderfully chill day. I took it nice and slow and just let my mind wander. There is a certain sense of peace that takes you when riding these forested roads. The views today were nice, but nothing too too crazy. We had out of this world views yesterday, which I am sure you’ve heard about. Today we were a bit more in-land so it was mostly serene and forested. We did pass by some beautiful lakes and some neat lake houses. We also saw some neat bridges which was cool. I am really looking forward to the rest of this trip because these last two sub-50 days plus our first rest day will finally help me recover enough to actually use this strength that I’ve been building up! I may regret this later on, but to the rest of the miles we have to do I say: Bring it on! Oyee!
