Observations from a Weeklong Rider

Written by: Kim Eisenbarth

Today was a picture perfect day of biking (for me at least). The weather cooperated, and the wind calmed down from yesterday, which is a noteworthy event for Illinois. We started the day in Beardstown and ended in Creve Couer, near Peoria, Illinois. Our church hosts, the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, greeted us with a much appreciated feast!

Strength and Laundry Detergent

Written by: Jonathan Falk

It was an orange crate, a white cardboard orange crate that has been common place on this trip because I think it holds the group’s laundry detergent. It sits in the trailer, packed with all practicality. It is easily overlooked. On the side of the box in blue font was printed the word “strength.”

Strength.

A Constant Adventure

Written by: Kelly Cho

Everyday is an adventure. Today was no exception. Taking cover from our third storm, changing flats, falling from tracks or holes and gaining more battle scars, or simply getting lost. All this happened within 83 miles.

The Fuller Family

Written by: Clint Sager

Families share a genealogy that can be traced back hundreds of years, built on generation after generation. As the years go on the family tree blossoms, adding new limbs and branches as parents have children, who grow up, get married and have children of their own. Unlike the trees growing in forest or in a backyard, this tree thrives on love, respect, smiles, tears, passion, romance, adventure, success and failures causing the roots to grow deep; growing stronger through every trial. No wind can uproot it. No fire can char it. No lighting can strike it. The strength and resilience is immeasurable.

A Day on the Katy Trail

Written by: Patrick Roberts

The highlight of today was, of course, the Katy Trail! This was some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. That’s what I have had the privilege of experiencing this past week with Fuller Center Bike Adventure.

A Physical and Spiritual Ride

Written by: Bonnie Kalish

I learned about the Fuller Center Bike Adventure when I was searching the internet for a cross country bike ride. I really like outdoor adventures and helping people, so I was excited to be involved with the Fuller Center to help me fulfill these goals. When the trip started I was looking forward to seeing the country on my bike, but what I enjoy the most is the build days when we help people live better lives by doing house repairs and yard work.Continue reading→

Outrunning the Storm

Written by: Brian Cook

Hello everyone. My name is Brian Cook. I am one of the new members of the FCBA team, just joining on Sunday night in Wichita. What a way to be welcomed to the team. My first day was the hottest of the year in Kansas, and today, well, we enjoyed one of the famous Kansas thunderstorms. If nothing else, it just adds to the adventure.

A Hunger and Thirst That Can’t Be Quenched

Written by: Kelsey Correa

As I ride on, I grow more hungry and thirsty…but not for the food and water that first comes to mind. We have plenty of that- even so much that I joke around about actually gaining weight on this trip, haha. Instead, I crave and long for more of Jesus- the living water and bread of life.
