The families of the Shady Grove United Methodist started us off with a huge breakfast consisting of several egg dishes, grits, danish and rolls, and other treats.
We left Pastor Randy and Parkway Baptist Church In Houston MS close to 8 a.m. These folks made us feel so welcome and important but also made us feel like old friends.
Since I had never visited upstate New York and New England before, I didn’t really know what to expect. I knew that it would be very scenic with the Adirondacks, the Green Mountains in Vermont, and the White Mountains in New Hampshire.
We rode from Burlington to Montpelier, Vermont, a 57 mile ride with 4,163 feet of elevation gain! There are now only 4 ride days left to complete this adventure. Today’s ride while not that long was challenging to say the least.

Today we rode from Newton Falls, New York to Lake Placid, a 65.2 mile ride with 3,455 feet of elevation gain. I believe almost everyone has probably heard of Lake Placid because of the 1980 winter Olympics, which were centered at this location.
