Dirt to DC: Transportation

You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the start and end of the ride, but here are a few ways we can help. If you’d like to take advantage of our help with transportation please share your plans with us no later than September 1st.gap7

  • Buses, Planes and Trains: We can pick you up at a local bus station, train station or airport in Pittsburgh, PA, and drop you off at the local transportation hubs in Washington, D.C.
  • Driving: If you would like to drive to the start in Pittsburgh, you may leave your car at our host church where we’ll be starting the ride.  We will be driving back to the Steel City at the end of the trip and can help you get back to your car – let your Trip Leader know if you will need a ride back to Pittsburgh at the end of the trip.
  • Carpool! We will be making a Facebook group, where riders can communicate with each other and you can ask if there might be any opportunities to carpool! Feel free to contact the Trip Leader at bike@fullercenter.org for help making arrangements.

Arrival in Pittsburgh:

You should plan to arrive on Friday, September 15th by 9pm. Please contact the Trip Leader if you plan to arrive outside of the specified time.

Departure from Washington, D.C.:

We will leave D.C. early in the morning on Sunday, September 24th, and plan to arrive back in Pittsburgh by 2:00pm. We are happy to offer rides back to Pittsburgh, but you must let the Trip Leader know by September 1.

If you plan to take a flight, bus or train out of Washington, D.C., we will do our best to transport you to the appropriate station on Saturday evening (9/23) or Sunday morning (9/24). Once we have finalized our church host in Washington, we will be able to determine which airport/stations we can accommodate. Please contact us at bike@fullercenter.org with any questions.
