Your Safety is Our Priority
Since we rely heavily upon host churches and live together as a community during our rides, all participants in 2022 must either be vaccinated for COVID-19 or undergo regular COVID-19 testing during the event.

Gulf Coast (2022)

This route is a 2-week route that explores the south and the Gulf.  The U.S. Gulf is a collection of diversity, beautiful beaches, and white sands.  You will have Southern hospitality and ride though areas filled with history and culture.  Over 2 weeks the group will experience three days of rebuilding homes damaged by hurricanes and flooding, with the sites subject to change as the recovery unfolds.

White sand beaches, warm Gulf waters, and rich history in cities such as Baton Rouge make this a fabulous way to warm up your legs from the winter.

Click the segment headings below to view details and day-by-day schedules.

Segment 1 will embark on a remarkable journey by the white sand beaches of the coast and next to the glistening waters of the Gulf of Mexico.  Hear the ocean crash against the shores and pedal through the Gulf Breeze as you launch from Laguna Beach and travel approximately 270 miles on or near the coast your first week.  You will stay in Miramar Beach,  FL, and Pensacola, FL before arriving in Bayou la Batra, AL, the seafood capital of Alabama.  This last stretch into town will be by ferry.

From Bayou la Batre, AL on through Hammond, LA you will experience some events in stark contrast to the beauty of the coast.  It was hit hard by the 2021 Hurricane season and can use our assistance.  Our build will be in Hammond, LA and if you are departing after this segment we are able to drive you to the nearby airport will in Baton Rouge, LA.

Those joining us can be picked up at the airport in Baton Rouge. After our build in Hammond, LA the journey continues through the South and close to the Gulf.  Leaving Hammond, LA we will travel to Baton Rouge, LA and Eunice, LA before arriving in Sulfur, LA for the final build of this ride, another disaster recovery project. Sulfur, named after the large Sulfur mining operations of the area, is now supported by the oil and petrochemical businesses.  Sulfur is 20 miles outside of Texas and the following days we will travel to Winnie, TX and Galveston TX to finish our ride.

Even if the build days would adjust, the segment endpoints will remain the same. At the end of the ride, riders can be driven to the Hobby Airport in Houston, TX for their flights home.
