San Francisco, CA to Santa Barbara, CA
Segment 3 riders will join us in San Francisco on our Monday Off Day. Check out a tour of Alcatraz, or hop a ferry for a hike on Angel Island State Park before we rest up for Tuesday’s ride.
On our first Bike Day of this week, we will rejoin Highway 1, and squiggle down the coastline to Santa Cruz. This iconic bike town is home to its namesake bike manufacturer, and some beautiful south-facing beach.
We then cut inland due to land slides which have deemed Highway 1 through Big Sur impassable. This does cut out a cool part of the route, but we will make the most of it, and see some beautiful countryside on our way back towards the coast in Thursday.
On Friday, we will arrive in Santa Maria, CA. In addition to numerous wineries, you can catch an 8:00 PM showing of Beauty and the Beast at the Pacific Conservatory Theatre if you are so inclined.
The final ride day this week will take us into Santa Barbara, which offers a wide array of Off Day activities. Whether you choose to visit an old mission, a beach, a botanical garden, or the Santa Barbara Zoo, enjoy the well-deserved rest day!
