Riding Through the Rain

Written by: Rick Nowlin

Reynoldsville to Bellefonte

I took a fair weather approach today.  It started to downpour just before we were to leave from circle up in the morning.  I had already chosen to ride in the support vehicle, and I was so glad that I did.  I started riding the bike at mile 52 and finished the ride from there. I had to experience what all the others had all day long.  I got drenched and had long hills going up all the way to the church. When we arrived at the church, we were welcomed in with opening arms, snacks, and cold drinks. You can relive the ride with me here.

Rain is a Good Thing

Today we rode 78 miles from Grand Canyon, Arizona to Flagstaff, Arizona. Wake up time was at 5 a.m. During the night you could hear the rain drops fall on our tent. As we were having breakfast, those of us who hiked asked each other how their legs were, and some said thighs were hurting, others said calves, and others said the soles of their feet were hurting. After breakfast, the tents were put away. Everyone wore their rain gear because it was forecast.

I feel truly humbled that God has allowed me to be in this place and time, involved in something bigger than myself all the while riding in the midst of His creation and taking in the beauty of it all.
