I’m still mourning the passing of Christine McVie, the driving force behind Fleetwood Mac predating Buckingham/Nicks.

My favorite Christine McVie tune “Heroes are Hard to Find” was ringing in my head today. My friends on this ride are all heroes — the difficulties overcome are significant.

My hero, however, is Anne Kennedy. Annie keeps our family sewn together. She loves our children as her own. Her emotional stability comforts us and reshapes our rough edges. She adores and encourages every idea — except the bad ones — that I have. When I need counseling, she is gentle. In my worst moments she has soothed me.

She has enabled me to fulfill my dream of bicycling across the country! Heroes are (not) hard to find in my house!
