MARK KIZNER: Doing it with all her heart

Doing it with all her heart

Many of us have watched Mark Harmon’s NCIS where his character, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, had a rule for everything. His rule that’s stuck with me the most was Rule 39 which is “there’s no such thing as a coincidence.”

Today we left our host in Harvey for Carrington North Dakota which was about a 55 mile ride. By Coast to Coast standards, that would be considered a short day. Our day was sunny with a light breeze and comfortable temperatures. We enjoyed the day.

So, what about Rule 39? Sheryl is still the church administrator for Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington from when they hosted Fuller back in 2022 and that’s no coincidence. She was here to greet me when I arrived at around 11:15am. She said “Oh, you’re here a bit sooner than I expected which is definitely OK” She went on to ask me if I thought our group would like some snacks before the 5:30 meal? She saw my eyes light up. After Sheryl gave me the tour of the facility she went to the kitchen to cook up several pizzas with chips and soft drinks along with some cake. She moved up our shower time to Noon-5pm and the showers were just a stone’s throw away and directly across the street at the local school which was an easy walk.

It’s no coincidence that Sheryl was still here to greet us. God knew that she was the right person to make us feel welcomed. And, she’s an example of living out Colossians 3: 23 (NIV) from the New Testament which states “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Thank You Sheryl.
