The churches we’ve been staying in have been beyond generous, welcoming, caring and loving. They remind me of Jesus’ words, “A city on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14b).
We have had to ride up some serious hills to get to some of the churches, but the true light that has radiated from them didn’t come from the electricity that powered their bulbs.
Rather, the light that radiated from these churches came in the form of letting us use their facilities, providing dinners, providing breakfasts, sending us out with snacks, giving monetary donations toward our build projects, joining us for meals to share their interest in our mission as well as share their love for the Lord and his people, and smiling and being overall a great encouragement to us.
As we leave one church at 6:30 a.m. (or earlier) and start our journey to the next church, we find ourselves asking, “What blessing does God have in store for us, not only as we ride, but as we ascend to the next ‘city on a hill?’”
