The Last Ride

Written by: Karl Trimmer

Today we completed the last mountain ride from Hazelton to Phoenixville, which is mostly downhill except for a few uphills, including Hawk Mountain, where the grade reaches 16% and the climb continues for two miles.  Most days everyone would be talking about what a killer the climb was and how happy they were to complete.  Today everyone seemed to take it in stride and finish.

The Larger Purpose

Much of the attention surrounding the Fuller Center Bike Adventure focuses on the good that we do for other people. What I find amazing is that helping others is so good for me as well. Continue reading→

Blessed to be a Blessing

Written by: Stephany Escalante Galindo

Today we rode 58 miles from Bellefonte, PA to Lewisburg, PA. It still blows me away that there are church members who choose to wake up early (sometimes as early as 4:30am) to cook breakfast for a bunch of cyclist going across the country. This morning we had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast thanks to two special ladies from St. John’s Church. We had 2 egg casseroles this morning- one had turkey and the other had wild boar sausage.Continue reading→

Rolling Through Nature

Written by: Julio Galindo

7/31/18 we biked 73 miles from Grove City, Pennsylvania, to Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania, with an elevation gain of 7,372 feet according to the bike computer we use. Today lights on was at 5 am. We slept on a bunch of pillows put together and it was very comfortable. Today Stephany and I were sweeps. We had an extra rider with us for a few miles, the pastor from the church we stayed. As we were going uphill a family of 3 deer crossed right in front of us. Continue reading→

I know we all meet people throughout our daily lives, but for me this past week, I am exceptionally grateful that God has set a wonderful group of people in my path from the FCBA. Continue reading→

Halfway Reflections

Written by: Joel Derksen

We’ve hit the halfway point of our incredible journey, and what an adventure it’s been. 5 wonderful
weeks down, and 5 more exciting weeks to come! I’ve had the privilege of leading this ride as we’ve
been making our way across the country, and I can’t say enough what a blessing it’s been to serve the
Bike Adventure in this capacity.Continue reading→

Collecting stories

Written by: Steff Zavala

Good evening, blog readers and FCBA crew who are reading this! This morning was a great, overcast day to ride. We started in White Bear Lake, MN after a hearty breakfast of leftovers and recap stories of the day/evening before. I love morning rides. We all tend pull out of the church around the same time and it takes a while for everyone to figure out their pace for the day. That allows for ample time to connect with various individuals as you come up on their left or if you slow to ride with them for a bit.Continue reading→

What should I blog about?

Written by: Dave Maidt

So, here I am, on my knees, in a strange bathroom, sprawled across a toilet bowl, with a crow bar in my hand, prying tackless strip from the back corner of the floor behind the bowl, thinking to myself, ‘darn, I gotta Blog tonight.’ What in the world could I blog about? As the SAG (Support Aid Gear) driver I’ve never blogged on any of my previous 4 FCBA trips before. What could I possibly blog about?Continue reading→

Enjoying the little things

Written by: Judy Nast

Wednesday night at the Baptist church, we had a true potluck dinner furnished by our host church. Humm, hum good.
Today has been a day of adventure, starting with breakfast burritos prepared by our team. When it was time to leave Bingen Baptist Church all  of the drains were backed-up. After diligent work by many the problem was mastered.Continue reading→

Sweeping California Off Her Feet

Written by: Steve Falcón, Whittier, CA.
“Looking out at the road rushing under my wheels, Looking back at the years gone by like so many summer fields. In sixty-five I was seventeen and running up one-oh-one. I don’t know where I’m riding now, I’m just riding on…” – Jackson Browne. (Ok, slightly modified at the end)
Monday,  June 4th.
We left the comfort of Chula Vista today and headed 49 miles east to the city of Campo, CA.  This is my first experience being part of the FCBA family, and I must say that I am very blessed to have been privileged to join them on their journey. Today was very special for me.  Normally in my regular cycling activities I am usually towards the front of the pack, rushing and racing to “get the best time.”  Today was not about that.  Today was an opportunity to serve while riding.
